Question |
Answer |
| What is the
ACE Certification Program |
The ACE Certification Program
replaces the current ASA VIP Coaching Education Program. The ACE
Certification Program provides a quick, simple, cost effective way of
certifying our coaches as ASA coaches. The ACE Certification Program is a
way to provide these coaches with some of the basics they need to know to
coach a youth softball team. |
| How do
coaches get ACE certified? |
By attending an ACE
Certification Clinic put on by their local ASA association (currently,
this is the only way coaches can get certified). At the clinic, the
coaches will watch the ACE Certification video (approximately 45 minutes
in length), take the ACE Certification test which covers the material in
the video, and sign the Code of Ethics pledge. The entire clinic should
probably take 1½ to 2 hours. |
| What is the
cost to certify as an ASA ACE Coach? |
$20. This is a nationally
based fee. Thus, if you hold an ACE Coaching Certification Clinic, the
certification fee per coach will be $20. |
| Do coaches
have to attend an ACE Certification Clinic hosted by their local ASA to
get certified? |
Currently - yes! If a coach
calls the National Office asking how they can become ACE Certified, we
will send them back to their local ASA. The ASA National Office will not
individually certify coaches. However, if we find out that the local ASA’s
are not hosting clinics, and there are coaches out there who want to be
certified, we may have to look into offering the program out of the
National Office |
|
What happens to coaches who are currently
enrolled in the VIP Program.
|
We will
grandfather all
active
Silver Level Coaches into the ACE program, and they will receive all ACE
Coach benefits - free of charge. All active Bronze coaches must certify
into the ACE program. They will
not
be grand fathered in. We are sending out information to all active Bronze
and Silver level coaches informing them of such. |
